Автори стверджують, що некритичний вжиток терміна «філософія» призводить до невиправданого розширення сенсу поняття «філософія» і, зрештою, до втрати меж цього поняття. Автори доводять, що підстави називати деякі книги Біблії «філософськими» існують. Проте ці підстави потребують важливих методологічних розрізнень. Розвиваючи методологічні ідеї Вілена Горського, ми стверджуємо, що книгу Псалмів можна вважати «філософською» не в тому сенсі, в якому ми нині звикли говорити про філософію як іституційовану галузь знань. Безперечна інтуїтивні подібність між цієї книгою й філософуванням як таким є непрямою і спирається на потенційні елементи культури, що можуть бути названі «протофілософськими». Останні не обов’язково ведуть до появи власне «філософських» культурних форм, однак завжди сумісні з такими формами, хай би в яких культурах ті виникли. Природа цих елементів ще має бути досліджена.; The authors argue that the uncritical use of the term ―philosophy‖ leads to an unjustified expansion of the meaning of the concept of ―philosophy‖ and, ultimately, to the loss of the boundaries of this concept. The authors prove that there are reasons to qualify some books of the Bible as ―philosophical‖. However, these reasons require important methodological distinctions. Developing the methodological ideas of Vilen Gorsky, the authors argue that the book of Psalms can be considered as ―philosophical‖ not in the sense in which we are now accustomed to talk about philosophy as an institutionalized field of knowledge. The indisputable intuitive similarity between this book and philosophizing as such is indirect and is based on internal elements of culture that can be called ―proto-philosophical‖. The latter do not necessarily lead to the emergence of properly ―philosophical‖ cultural forms, but are always compatible with such forms, no matter in which cultures they arise.
