Abstract
У пропонованій статті розглянуто особливості використання сучасних комп 'ютерних технологій у дослідженні юкстапозитів на фонетичному рівніі. Визначено основні принципи побудови власне українських іменників-юкстапозитів за допомогою комп'ютерної програми Аudacitу. Розкрито механізм гармонійної побудови цих складних номінацій. Background: In recent decades computer technologies have been extensively used in practically all subject areas including linguistics. But, these technologies are insufficiently used in narrow fields, i. e. word-formation, especially in terms of
researching complex naming units at the phonetic level.
This article investigates compound words of Ukrainian language origin. It analyses quantity indicators of computer-pronounced compound words.
Purpose: to prove the efficiency of up-to-date computer technologies for eveloping a theory of Ukrainian language compound words’ harmonic onstruction based on the “golden proportion” method.
Result: informational technologies are based on digital data only. Thus, analogue sound signals of compound words phonation should be transformed into digital ones. This can be done with the help of an integrated sound card. The author suggests using the “Audacity” program to examine compound words of Ukrainian language origin. This program offers a wide range of options including icrophone record, sound separation, and measurement each of its fragment
duration.
Correlation of the whole word phonation duration is an important aspect of this research. Analysis of the numerical values of phonation duration in compound ords’ elements demonstrates their consistency patterns. These correlations prove to be not just random numbers, but reliable data corresponding with the “golden” P and S proportions. The Audacity-pronounced compound word “wind-flower” is
given as an intonogram’s example. The compound word construction correlation equals to 1.705, fitting into the range of harmonic S-proportions. Thus, construction correlation of “wind-flower” is harmonic at the phonetic level.
Discussion: computer technologies might be an efficient means of examination of compound words and their constructional consistencies at the honetic level. Arguably, the whole range of examined units (n = 112) are
characterized by harmonic structure, the bulk of them corresponding to P and S proportions.
