Scientific approaches to understanding the manipulation of consciousness are analyzed, the main technologies for its implementation in the mass media and digital media are identified. Based on specific examples of modern media manipulations, it is shown how media literacy skills allow detecting distortions of information and counteracting unwanted influence. Current threats of the information age, including cognitive warfare and influence through social media, are examined. Examples of the integration of Sun Tzu's work into the educational programs of leading universities and business schools around the world are given.
