The article aims to systematise the theoretical and methodological foundations of regression analysis as an instrument for quantitative assessment of management process efficiency in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The study employs methods of logical generalisation, scientific abstraction, structural analysis, and classification. The conditions of applicability of the Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) estimator are systematised in accordance with the six classical assumptions MLR.1-MLR.6 and the Gauss-Markov theorem, which guarantees optimal properties of OLS estimators only when assumptions MLR.1-MLR.5 are satisfied. Three groups of structural challenges specific to SME econometric modelling are identified: limited sample sizes that restrict the number of predictors and require normality testing; informational incompleteness arising from non-systematic record-keeping and the prevalence of informal business practices; and endogeneity caused by high concentration of ownership and managerial functions in a single person, which creates a bidirectional causal relationship between management quality and financial performance. A four-group classification of variables is proposed, covering financial performance indicators (ROA, ROE, labour productivity), organisational factors, human capital characteristics, digitalisation level, and process parameters. A step-by-step model-building procedure is described, including conceptualisation, sample formation, preliminary correlation analysis, OLS estimation, goodness-of-fit assessment, and residual diagnostics. A structured diagnostic framework is presented, covering multicollinearity detection (VIF), heteroskedasticity testing (Breusch-Pagan; White), autocorrelation testing (Durbin-Watson; Breusch-Godfrey), endogeneity testing (Hausman test), specification testing (Ramsey RESET), and structural stability testing (Chow test; CUSUM). Alternative model specifications for panel data are characterised, including fixed-effects models and Arellano-Bond GMM estimation. Application of the proposed methodological procedure will enable researchers and practitioners to use regression analysis correctly for assessing SME management processes and to avoid common specification and interpretation errors. Prospects for further research include developing sector-specific regression specifications for Ukrainian SMEs based on open registry data, testing panel models with fixed effects accounting for wartime shocks of 2022-2025, and adapting GMM estimation to address endogeneity between managerial investments and financial performance.; Мета статті полягає у систематизації методологічних засад регресійного аналізу як інструменту оцінювання ефективності управлінських процесів на підприємствах малого та середнього бізнесу (МСБ). Використано методи логічного узагальнення, структурного аналізу та класифікації. Систематизовано умови застосовності методу найменших квадратів (МНК) відповідно до допущень MLR.1-MLR.6 та теореми Гаусса-Маркова. Виокремлено специфічні ускладнення регресійного моделювання МСБ: малі вибірки, інформаційна неповнота та ендогенність. Запропоновано класифікацію змінних за чотирма групами та описано процедуру діагностики моделей. Застосування запропонованої методологічної процедури дозволить коректно використовувати регресійний аналіз для оцінювання управлінських процесів МСБ та уникати типових помилок специфікації. This article examines the impact of Ukrainian grain exports during the war on food security and market stability in the countries of the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). The study highlights the strategic importance of Ukraine as one of the world's leading exporters of wheat, maize, and sunflower oil, whose supplies play a crucial role in ensuring global food availability. In 2021, Ukraine accounted for a significant share of global exports in these commodities, making its agricultural sector a key component of international food supply chains. The outbreak of the war in 2022 significantly disrupted production, logistics, and export routes, particularly through the Black Sea ports, leading to increased transportation costs, reduced export volumes, and higher price volatility on global grain markets. The MENA region is characterized by strong structural dependence on food imports due to limited agricultural resources, water scarcity, and unfavorable climatic conditions. Wheat, as a staple food, represents a major component of dietary consumption in the region, with per capita intake significantly exceeding the global average. The disruption of Ukrainian grain exports has therefore intensified concerns regarding food insecurity, particularly in countries with high levels of poverty and import dependency such as Egypt, Yemen, and Tunisia. The study analyzes changes in trade flows, price dynamics, and the share of Ukrainian wheat in the import structures of MENA countries over the period 2012—2023. It also considers the role of alternative supply sources and market adaptation mechanisms in response to external shocks. The findings indicate that despite partial recovery of export routes, market uncertainty and increased logistical costs continue to affect global grain stability. The results confirm that the continuity of Ukrainian grain exports is essential not only for supporting the national economy but also for maintaining global food security. The research emphasizes the need for resilient supply chains, diversification of logistics routes, and international cooperation to mitigate risks associated with geopolitical instability and ensure stable food supply for vulnerable regions.; У статті досліджується вплив експорту українського зерна в умовах війни на продовольчу безпеку та ринкову стабільність країн Близького Сходу та Північної Африки. Обгрунтовано стратегічну роль України як одного з провідних світових експортерів пшениці, що забезпечує значну частку імпорту цих країн. Проаналізовано залежність регіону від імпортного зерна, структурні диспропорції соціально-економічного розвитку та високий рівень продовольчої вразливості. Визначено наслідки воєнних дій для логістики, експортних потоків та цінової волатильності на світовому ринку зерна. Результати дослідження підтверджують критичне значення стабільності українського аграрного експорту для забезпечення глобальної продовольчої рівноваги.
