Abstract

The data presented are from experimental studies comparing bentonite containing absorbed chromium (III) ions to pure bentonite. Important aspects of using montmorillonite clays, both pure and saturated with pollutants, are discussed in terms of their natural sources, chemical structures, and physical and chemical properties. The effective fixation of dyes on the surface is due to particle size, layered structure, the cation exchange effect, barrier properties, and water absorption.
