Financial inclusion and bank sustainability in Ukraine: current challenges and prospects

Abstract

У статті розглянуто роль фінансової інклюзії в забезпеченні стійкості банківської системи України в контексті сучасних викликів. Зазначено, що фінансова інклюзія є чинником, який підвищує доступність фінансових послуг для різних верств населення, зокрема малозабезпечених і сільських жителів. Автор аналізує тенденції впровадження цифрових технологій, які мають розширити доступ до банківських послуг і покращити обслуговування клієнтів. До основних викликів, з якими стикається українська банківська система, належать недостатній рівень фінансової грамотності населення, високі витрати на впровадження нових технологій та ризики, пов’язані з економічною нестабільністю. У статті наголошено на важливості розроблення програми фінансової освіти, що сприяє підвищенню рівня фінансової грамотності та залученню населення до фінансової системи. Обґрунтовано, що забезпечення стійкості банків в Україні потребує інтеграції стратегій фінансової інклюзії в загальну політику банківського сектору із залученням зміцнення довіри клієнтів і підвищення їхньої фінансової безпеки. У статті також досліджено перспективи розвитку фінансової інклюзії в Україні та її вплив на стабільність фінансової системи й запропоновано рекомендації щодо вдосконалення регуляторних механізмів для підтримки цього процесу.

The article examines the role of financial inclusion in ensuring the sustainability of the banking system of Ukraine in the context of modern challenges. It is noted that financial inclusion is a factor that increases the availability of financial services for various segments of the population, including low-income and rural residents. The author analyses the trends in the introduction of digital technologies that should expand access to banking services and improve customer service. The main challenges faced by the Ukrainian banking system include the insufficient level of financial literacy of the population, high costs of introducing new technologies and risks associated with economic instability. The article emphasizes the importance of developing a financial education program that helps to increase the level of financial literacy and involve the population in the financial system. It is substantiated that ensuring the sustainability of banks in Ukraine requires the integration of financial inclusion strategies into the general policy of the banking sector, with the involvement of strengthening customer confidence and increasing their financial security. The article also examines the prospects for the development of financial inclusion in Ukraine and its impact on the stability of the financial system, and offers recommendations for improving regulatory mechanisms to support this process.
