Вплив Закону «Про заходи щодо скорочення споживання населенням м`яса…» на повсякденне життя мешканців Києва в період Першої світової війни

Abstract

The changes in the daily life of population in Kyiv are elucidated. They appeared as a result of introduction of special law in Russian Empire in the summer of 1916. It had to reduced the consumption of meat and meat products from the mentioned animals. It’s clear that in press it was named “Shrovetide days law” because of prohibition of meat sale in trade places and in feeding institutions during four days in a week. Several satirical works published on the pages of newspapers in Kyiv and devoted to the law standard implementation in local realities conditions. Its negative influence in the medical sphere isindicated. The attention towards the law in the ministry ranges in Petrograd is accented. In conclusion, “Shrovetide days law” failed in economic and social respects, because it did not only improve the state of cattlebreeding in the way of decreasing killed cattle amount of market machinations, the worsening of social mood in the city.
