The physical principles of perovskite solar cells operation are considered. The dynamics of their efficiency growth compared to traditional silicon analogs are analyzed. The key physico-chemical problems hindering the commercialization of the technology, in particular, the active layer degradation processes, are highlighted, and modern methods of solving them using composite engineering are characterized.
