Abstract

The analysis of the influence of the basement depth on the change in the stress-strain state of the structures of the basement wall and the strip foundation under the conditions of different pliability of the base and different heights of the building is carried out. It is shown that as the horizontal pressure increases, the shear force along the base of the foundation increases, bending moments in the level of the base and in the wall structure, and the bearing capacity of the base decreases. With a basement depth of more than 3 m and up to three floors, constructive measures are needed to increase strength as compared with the second group of limiting conditions, which leads to an increase in costs of up to 30% on a relatively hard base and up to 60% on a compliant base. Recommendations for improving the work of the foundation and cost savings are given.
