Abstract

The analysis of existing IPTV services, modern systems for provision of such types of services, technologies and protocols, as well as trends in the development of IP networks in the direction of providing new services of interest to a wide range of users. The analysis and comparison of subjective and objective methods for assessing the quality of IPTV and their role in the formation of a new quality index of quality perception of QoE (Quality of Experience) in IP networks was conducted. Models of quality estimation of video transmission in IP networks, based on the interconnection of losses occurring on the network, and distortions, are visible by the viewer when watching television programs and films. The considered model, in addition to the bandwidth of the network, allows to take into account the influence of other parameters specific to video applications. In order to verify the suitability of the model "loss-distortion" a full-scale experiment was conducted, which made it possible to assess the adequacy of the proposed model with other methods for assessing the quality of video transmission. On the basis of simulation, we obtained self-similarity ratings for video content, speech and data transmission applications. The relationship between the values of the Hurst parameter and the subjective methods for assessing the quality of video transmission is revealed. The character of the dependence of the methods of subjective estimation on the Hurst parameter is determined.
