The article reviews epidemiological and network models for the spread of misinformation in digital social networks. A comparative analysis of main approaches, including compartmental models (SIR, SIS, SEIR, SEIZ, Daley-Kendall rumor model) and network-based models (independent cascade model, threshold models, agent-based models), is provided. Advantages and limitations of each model type are discussed along with practical case studies and applications in media literacy and fact-checking. The study emphasizes the importance of integrating epidemiological and network analyses for effectively predicting and combating infodemics.
