This paper investigates methods of implementing chat and communication tools on a web platform designed for organizing collaborative travel. The principal technological approaches to real-time messaging are reviewed and compared: HTTP polling, Server-Sent Events, WebSocket, and WebRTC. The selection of WebSocket as the optimal protocol for group chat is justified with respect to latency, bidirectionality, and scalability requirements. The architecture of the communication subsystem is described, incorporating Socket.IO, Redis Pub/Sub, and cloud notification services to guarantee reliable message delivery to both online and temporarily disconnected users. Security aspects are analyzed, including JWT-based authentication at the WebSocket layer, role-based access control for chat rooms, and transportlayer encryption. A comprehensive implementation scheme for the communication module is proposed, addressing scalability and fault-tolerance constraints.
