Abstract

The basic heavy metals are investigated. Impact on the environment and the human body. The compounds of these elements are characterized by high toxicity, mobility and the ability to bioaccumulate, which is a danger not only to humans but to all living things on Earth. The peculiarity of heavy metals is that, unlike organic toxicants, they do not decompose, once incorporated into biogeochemical cycles, they can retain their biological activity for an unlimited time.
