Abstract

The purpose of the paper is to identify trends in the development of engineering enterprises through the prism of their innovative activities. The importance of using innovations to ensure the spatial development of the enterprise is proved. The costs of engineering enterprises for innovations are analyzed and their ambiguous influence to the development of the industry is revealed, which allowed to reveal a number of negative tendencies in the development of engineering enterprises. The reduction of the cost of performed research works which had been made both by own forces or by another enterprises is revealed. There has been a reduction in other types of innovation, which confirms the lack of vision of enterprise management prospects for enterprise development and lack of development opportunities. The dynamics of sales of innovative products in mechanical engineering that is new to the market and those that are new to the company is analyzed. The costs of repairs carried out by engineering enterprises and volumes of dismantling of machines and equipment were singled out as additional factors of analysis the opportunities for innovative activities, which confirmed the growing contradictory trends in the development of the engineering industry. A set of positive trends is also revealed, which are presented in the increase of production of certain types of engineering products and the growth of value added of engineering products. A polynomial relationship between the costs of engineering enterprises for innovation and the added value of manufactured products is revealed. It is established that the current trend will continue for some time and there will be a period when the current practice of managing engineering enterprises will not be able to provide conditions for the development of engineering enterprises neither in space nor in time, which will lead to industry collapse. The study confirmed that under modern conditions, engineering enterprises are left alone with the problems of internal management and providing resources for modernization in a changing internal environment and objective global trends of scientific and technological progress.
