dc.description.abstract	Describes the main types of damage to the power transformer during emergency and abnormal modes of operation, their causes. Investigated the processes occurring in power transformer at emergency and abnormal modes of operation, identified key process parameters that are used when constructing the system of relay protection and diagnostic systems of power equipment. The definition of basic calculation methods of reliability indexes. A comparative calculation of the quantitative reliability evaluation of the differential current protection is made on the basis of Electromechanical relays and microprocessor-based. A mathematical model of the power transformer taking into account the throw of the magnetizing current.
