Битва на річці Соммі 1916 р. як поворотний момент у воєнній історії

Abstract

The work examines the course and consequences of the Battle of the Somme River, which took place on the Western Front of the First World War during the summer-autumn of 1916 and became the quintessence of a «positional» warfare. The authors clarified the nature, essence and purpose of the innovative weapons that were used in the battle. The work actualizes some tactical and strategical aspects of the battle in the context of the current Russian-Ukrainian war.
