Abstract

This paper investigates the practical applications of complex variable function theory in various fields of science and engineering. The history of the origin and development of complex analysis is examined, from the first attempts by Italian mathematicians of the sixteenth century to the formation of a complete mathematical discipline at the end of the nineteenth century. Special attention is given to the application of complex analysis methods in hydrodynamics and aerodynamics for calculating fluid and gas flows, and in electrical engineering for analyzing alternating current circuits and transient processes. It is shown how the mathematical apparatus of complex numbers allows solving complex engineering and physical problems that are difficult or impossible to solve by other methods.
