Abstract

The work is devoted to an in‑depth analysis of the discovery of the Higgs boson, a fundamental particle that completes the structure of the Standard Model. The text provides an expanded explanation of the theoretical background of the Higgs mechanism, including spontaneous symmetry breaking, and discusses experimental approaches that allowed the detection of the Higgs boson at the Large Hadron Collider. The study places emphasis on collision event reconstruction, statistical confirmation techniques, and the significance of the discovery for modern physics, particularly for understanding mass generation, vacuum stability, and the search for physics beyond the Standard Model.
