Міфи українського козацтва

Abstract

The report examines the problem of mythologizing the Cossacks in Ukrainian history. The main Cossack myths, their origin and influence on the formation of national historical memory are analyzed. Special attention is paid to the correlation of historical facts and popular ideas about the Cossacks, as well as the role of folklore and historiography in creating an idealized image of the Cossack. The conclusion is made about the need for a critical approach to the study of the Cossack era as an important component of the history of Ukraine.
