dc.description.abstractAn integrated system for automating the clay drying process in a direct-flow drum dryer using a Modicon M340 microprocessor controller is proposed. The system contains four control loops (fuel-air, temperature in the mixing chamber, temperature in the drum with humidity correction, and vacuum) and a protection loop. A mathematical model of the dryer was developed, the PI controller was tuned, and the energy efficiency of the solution was confirmed by simulation results. Implementation of the system reduces specific fuel consumption by 1.5 kWh-t-¹ and provides a payback period of 0.58 years.en
