Abstract

The most acute problems in the use of fluorescent lamps are their utilization and safety of use. After collecting the lamps are packed in protective covers made of corrugated cardboard and, having collected the necessary amount, are sent for disposal. The most widespread but not the most reliable way is the physical destruction of lamps at landfills for the disposal of chemical and biological substances. This way is harmful to the environment and is associated with the risk of further spread of mercury and its compounds. Work on the optimization of mercury utilization methods and devices containing it has been under way for a long time.
