Створення Вінницького національного технічного університету: синтез глобальних трендів і локальних викликів (кінець 1950 - початок 1960-х рр.)

Abstract

This article examines the establishment of Vinnytsia National Technical University (VNTU) as an example of the distinctive interaction of global, all-, and regional factors that contributed to the formation of one of the leading centres of technical education and scientific activity in Ukraine. The relevance of studying this process stems its importance for understanding the origins of local technical education and analysing the socio-economic transformations characteristic of the second half of the 20th century. The scientific novelty lies in a comprehensive interdisciplinary analysis of VNTU`s founding, which is examined for the first time as a regional phenomenon within the context of global and Soviet processes of the post-war era. The article expands existing historiography by highlighting socio-cultural, ideological, and economic dimensions, while offering new methodological approaches to studying the university`s founding and Vinnytsia`s development in the late 1950`s and early 1960`s. The methodological foundation rests on the principle of historicism, which requires analysis of phenomena within their specific temporal, social, and political contexts. The purpose of the article is to systematically analyse the circumstances surrounding VNTU`s founding in 1960 as a leading centre of technical education in the Vinnytsia region, with emphasis on identifying the socio-economic, ideological, and scientific-technical factors that necessitated its creation. The study demonstrates that VNTU`s establishment constituted a significant factor in the development of technical education, science, and industry in Ukraine, responding to the challenges of the second scientific and technical revolution. The university provided training for engineering personnel in the region and contributed to urbanization and socio-cultural transformation in Vinnytsia.

Досліджено передумови та причини заснування Вінницького національ- ного технічного університету в глобальному, загальнорадянському та регі- ональному вимірах. Автори визначили, що в другій половині 1950‑х рр. сфор- мувалася сукупність ключових факторів: ідеологічні, політичні й економічні прагнення радянської влади до розвитку науки, географічна диверсифікація промисловості в рамках індустріалізації Вінниці, а також потреба в підго- товці інженерних кадрів для місцевих промислових об`єктів.
