A growing number of studies are analyzing long-term monitoring data to determine degradation rates. Analysis of long-term monitoring data provides insight into the performance of photovoltaic installations over time, but is sensitive to uncertainties, especially those associated with measuring irradiance using silicon reference elements. Case studies show that crystalline silicon photovoltaic systems operating for 8+ years have degradation rates of 0.5% per year or less.
