dc.description.abstract | The article analyzes the research, production and operation of radial gas bearings with internal
compensation and bearings with an external throttle. Some advantages of bearings with internal
compensation are indicated and methods for improving the characteristics of such s bearings are defined.
A radial gas bearing with longitudinal grooves has been investigated whose depth varies linearly
(triangular profile) or stepwise; the effect of grooves with different profiles on the characteristics (radial
rigidity, lifting force and gas flow) of the bearing. Calculation and investigation of the characteristics of
radial bearings with longitudinal grooves whose depth varies linearly was carried out using the method
of splines by the cyclic sweep method.
It was found out that from the considered forms of longitudinal grooves of variable depth of the radial
gas bearing, bearings with a wide range of their design parameters have bearings with a profile of
grooves whose depth decreases in the direction of gas flow in working gaps. The design parameters of
such grooves have been found that increase the dimensionless radial rigidity (lifting force) of the bearing
by more than 50 % with grooves whose depth varies linearly and about 20 % with stepwise grooves
compared to the bearing in which the design parameters of the groove of constant depth are optimal. The
gas flow through the working backlashes of the bearings does not depend on the profile of the grooves
with relatively small radial movements of the shaft | en |
