У доповіді розглянуто основні поняття атомної та ядерної фізики, зокрема явище радіоактивності та ядерні реакції. Описано історію відкриття, механізми ядерних реакцій і їх значення в природі й науці.

The report examines the basic concepts of atomic and nuclear physics, in particular the phenomenon of radioactivity and nuclear reactions. The history of the discovery, the mechanisms of nuclear reactions and their significance in nature and science are described. Modern research and practical application of nuclear technologies in energy, medicine, geology and ecology are considered. The importance of further research for the safe use of nuclear energy is emphasized.
