Критика заперечення свободи волі Діком Сваабом

Abstract

Дік Свааб, відомий дослідник фізіології мозку, заперечує свободу волі та вважає її ілюзією. Він спирається на розуміння людини як суто біологічної істоти, визначеної лише організмом і середовищем. Ми доводимо, що ця концепція не є достатньо обґрунтованою, бо а) складність людської поведінки не пояснюється лише біологією й середовищем (таке пояснення спирається на те, що ще треба довести); б) свобода є філософським, а не науковим поняттям, тому кожен вчений, що досліджує поведінку людини, вже має якусь філософську гіпотезу, яку неможливо до кінця підтвердити фактами.Dick Swaab, known researcher of brain physiology, denies free will and considers it as an illusion. His conception is based on the understanding of man as a purely biological being that is determined only by the body and the environment. I argue that this theory is not well founded, because a) the complexity of human behavior is not explicable only by biology and environment (because this explanation is based on the thesis that must be prove); b) freedom is a philosophical, not a scientific concept, so every scientist that studies human behavior, already has some philosophical hypothesis, impossible to be confirmed by the facts.
