Contemporary challenges and methodological issues in the translation of English texts into Ukrainian

Abstract

This article explores the complexities of translating English texts into Ukrainian, addressing both linguistic and cultural challenges. It highlights Ukraine`s growing need for accurate translations due to its international aspirations, particularly towards the European and NATO. The study identifies key linguistic differences between English and Ukrainian, such as English`s straightforward syntax versus Ukrainian`s flexible structure and complex morphology, which pose difficulties for translators. The article emphasizes the importance of balancing semantic accuracy and cultural relevance in translation, especially in fields like legal documentation, education, and technical writing, precision is crucial. It presents a hybrid translation model that integrates neural machine translation (NMT) with human expertise to enhance translation accuracy and cultural adaptability. Key findings include improved accuracy and relevance across various genres, a 30% reduction in errors, and higher user satisfaction in professional fields like law and engineering. The hybrid model`s success is attributed to the use of specialized corpora and expert reviews, which help mitigate the shortcomings of automated translation systems. The article concludes by advocating for the continued integration of technological and human approaches to improve translation practices.
